One of the juiciest Macintosh rumors in recent months is the next-generation Mac mini, which would supposedly have Intel Inside (ding, ding, ding, ding!) along with TiVo-like television recording and an iPod dock. The latter two features would make it a natural for use with a TV in the family room.
Connecting the dots on this one is a lot of fun.
Apple is going all-Intel within two years. Nathalie Welch, the former Apple public-relations manager now at the Weber Shandwick public-relations firm, is working on her agency's Intel account. Intel is readying its so-called Viiv platform consisting of computers that record TV TiVo-style. Nathalie pitches Viiv. TiVo is a just-announced Viiv partner. TiVo is letting its users download video to those hot new video-playing iPods. These iPods would dock atop Mac minis, which would be hooked up to TVs.
See where I'm going with this? Naaah, this makes too much sense...
Update: Ah, the plot thickens (note Viiv reference). Still more on this.
