I have been on the front lines of the Internet and computer revolutions as a syndicated columnist, editor and award-winning reporter for more than a decade.
I cover consumer technology for the St. Paul Pioneer Press (a MediaNews Group newspaper), where I write a weekly Tech Test Drive column and maintain my Your Tech Weblog.
As a leading U.S. technology journalist, I provide a unique blend of professional reportage and social-media insight in "Twitter Means Business." This hot-selling business book documents how Twitter has become a vital tool for companies.
I have written at length about Twitter for the Pioneer Press and other media outlets, including the Robert C. Robert C. Maynard Institute for Journalism Education. My Twitter use on behalf of the Pioneer Press has won me a bit of acclaim.
I make frequent media appearances to discuss the latest consumer-technology and social-media trends. I have been a guest on leading public-radio shows "On the Media" and "Future Tense," for instance, and on top tech podcasts like "This Week in Tech."
As a consumer-technology fanatic, I am fond of things Apple and Google (but I cover both in a balanced way as a tech journalist).
I am a hopeless nerd. How hopeless? Check out the cartoons below featuring yours truly, which will give you a sense for my Apple- and sci-fi-related nerdery. Click on each cartoon to see it in its natural habitat. In the second cartoon by my too-cool Pioneer Press colleague David Steinlicht (who is also responsible for this site's main banner), I'm the one with the Han Solo in carbonite.
In a lighter vein, I am the father of Burrito Avatar Friday, and a crusader in the holy quest to make the fabled Chipotle breakfast burrito a reality.
I am a native of Quito, Ecuador but feel much more Puerto Rican (or "boricua") since I spent the bulk of my childhood in San Juan. You'll often see me tweeting in my native Spanish (with correct use of accents, tildes and the like, of course). Translations available upon request :-)
I live in St. Paul, Minn., with my wife and son (and Pepita, our hopelessly spoiled guinea pig).
